Voice lessons

Voice lessons help vocalists learn the fundamentals of singing like breathing, posture and diction.  Students gain musical proficiency through performance-based music education. All of our lessons programs include a performance aspect.

Senior Production

Performers will put together a Broadway musical, including professional costumes and sets. Students will be challenged by advanced choreography, singing and acting. A full musical will be presented at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in the spring and as well as a musical number in the Winter Holiday Show and Spring recital. This class requires hard work and dedication from each student. It is strongly recommended that students in this class take an additional dance class as the senior class has very challenging choreography.

Junior Production

Students will be challenged with choreography, harmony and acting skills. A full musical will be presented at a local theatre in the spring as well as a musical number in the Winter Holiday Show and Spring recital. This class is also on occasion invited to be a show choir for the Senior Production Musical. This class requires hard work and dedication from each student. It is strongly recommended that students in this class take an additional dance class to improve their dance technique. Taking a dance class helps students master challenging show choreography.

Broadway Troupers

Students will learn the basics of Musical Theatre. A combination of singing, acting and dancing builds confidence and self-esteem. The first session will perform at the Winter Holiday Show and the second session will perform at the year-end recital.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theater is a form of theatrical performance combining singing, acting and dance. The varied emotional aspects of a production as well as the story itself are communicated through the words, music, dance and staging of the entertainment as an integrated whole. Since the early 20th century, Musical Theatre stage works have generally been called, simply, Musicals.

Broadway Dance

Broadway Dance class focuses on performance, musicality and bringing versatility to a student’s work. A combination of Jazz, Theatre, Urban/Hip Hop and Contemporary to develop strength in all aspects of movement in Theatre!

Ballet

Ballet is a classical dance form demanding grace and precision and employing formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement. Students will learn basic to advanced Ballet technique to improve their dance skills and posture. Ballet technique is an essential skill for performers. This class is for students who wish to work on technique without the stress & cost of Ballet exams.

Dress code: bodysuit and tights or leggings, hair in a bun, Ballet shoes.

Beginner Ballet/Jazz

Our beginner Ballet/Jazz class teaches the student to think of the movement of the foot, leg, arm and head, not as something apart, but in its relation to the whole body, to develop a feeling for graceful lines. Our goal is to develop their imagination, body awareness and coordination in an environment that is filled with fun and action! As the children progress they are taught basic dance movements and skills in Ballet and Jazz through dancing, singing and dance-oriented games.

Dress code: bodysuit and tights or fitted top and leggings, no bulky tops or long sleeved jackets, hair pulled off face. Ballet or Jazz shoes.

Jazz

Jazz dance includes strength, flexibility and conditioning technique and progressions including turns, kicks and leaps. In a Jazz class the dancers also learn many fun and trendy dance steps that are used for all forms of dance. Students will learn basic to advance dance technique as well as choreography to popular dance music.

Lyrical

Lyrical Dance is a blending of Ballet and Jazz techniques creating a perfect avenue of self-expression performed to contemporary music. Students will gain fluidity of movement, grace, control, individual expression and self-confidence.

Contemporary

Contemporary is a modern and expressive form of dance. It has few boundaries and can be interpreted in countless different ways. It is great for body balance, control, strength and flexibility. Contemporary dance is very focused on the choreographic and performing process.

Hip Hop

Students learn technical elements based on music video styles using the most current Funk/Street/Urban combinations in popular culture today.

Tap

Tap Dance is characterized by using the sounds of Tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Students develop technique based on rhythmic variations, footwork and creative combinations.
